Overview

The control tower is the operational home screen for logistics teams. It aggregates shipments across modes and branches into a filterable table and map view. Color-coded risk indicators surface shipments needing attention before customers call.

Designed for high volume

Forwarders managing thousands of concurrent shipments use saved views and bulk actions to process morning standups in minutes instead of hours.

Views and filters

Combine filters to create saved views—for example, all ocean imports arriving at US West Coast ports this week with open customs exceptions. Share views with teammates or pin them to your sidebar.

  • Date ranges on ETD, ETA, and last milestone timestamp
  • Exception type and SLA status filters

Risk scoring

Orbex Data calculates a risk score from milestone gaps, schedule changes, historical lane reliability, and open exceptions. Scores update as carrier events arrive. Thresholds are configurable per workspace.

Risk factors

  • ETA moved later by more than configured hours
  • Required document missing within N days of arrival
  • Container rolled or vessel omitted from schedule
  • Dwell time exceeding port average for lane

Tune gradually

Start with default risk rules for 30 days, then adjust thresholds based on false positive rates your team reports.

Bulk actions

Select multiple shipments to assign operators, add tags, export milestone summaries, or trigger customer status emails. Bulk actions respect role permissions—documentation users cannot reassign finance-flagged shipments.

  1. 1

    Select shipments

Use checkboxes or shift-click ranges in the table view.

  2. 2

    Choose action

Open the Actions menu for assign, tag, export, or notify options.

  3. 3

    Confirm and audit

Bulk operations log individually per shipment in the audit trail.

Map view

Toggle to map view for geospatial context. Vessel positions use AIS data where available; air shipments show last known airport event. Map clusters aggregate at zoom levels to keep performance smooth for large fleets.
